Hello, I’m Lauren, welcome to my blog!
In high school I realized that my love of cooking and baking was what I wanted to do with my life. I graduated from the University of California, Davis with a bachelor’s degree in Clinical Nutrition and continued my education with a certificate in the culinary arts from the Le Cordon Bleu in Sacramento. I finished my culinary education with a challenging but amazing six week internship just outside of Lucca, Tuscany, where I was incredibly lucky to learn a great deal about the cuisine and the culture; perhaps more importantly, I also learned about how the two pair perfectly with friendship and family.
I’ve noticed that all of my hobbies are either directly or indirectly related to food; in addition to cooking, I love to garden, to do my own canning and preserving, to go fishing, go fruit picking and, maybe one day, I will learn to hunt. Nowadays, I live in a house in South Lake Tahoe with my honey, as well as a colorful cast of supporting characters, both two legged and four. My sweetie and I have a lot of plans for rest of our lives, all of which require money, so my daily challenge is to stick to a tight household budget which incorporates only $10 per week on groceries per person.
Nobody wants to just see pictures of what I’m eating; facebook is already pretty good at that. My goal for this blog is to share delicious and healthy recipes and techniques that help your budget (and, hopefully, to share some humorous anecdotes too) because everyone could use some more cash. Whether you’re a college student or young professional just starting out on your own, whether you have a young family and the finances are tight or whether you just really really want to get your hands on the latest i-gadget, one place I’m certain you can save some green is on your grocery budget. It’s not easy, but if you’re willing to invest your time you’ll see the results in your fat wallet.
If you are interested in contacting me, I will do my best to respond quickly to any comments or questions on the blog. I am also reachable at email@example.com
